.hack//G.U. TRILOGY
Just got my copy of .hack//G.U. TRILOGY(blu-ray version) 
Looks all fancy and nice.
I'll decide whether to sub this after I finish watching it. 
Then again... I probably need to find a way to rip blu-ray first...
UPDATE: Just finished watching the movie. It's quite good, but it felt brief and disconnected(you'll probably feel the same if you've played the game)...
They did a great job trying to squeeze 60-100 hours of game content into a 2 hours movie. They could've tried to make it into a three parts movie(a.k.a. a TRILOGY), but I doubt it would help that much in this case(60 hours vs 6 hours isn't that much better than 60 hours vs 2 hours).
Story-wise, the primary focuse in this movie is the emotional development between Haseo and Atoli, Ovan is a big focus too. Some story lines from the game were altered, especially the parts on how Haseo got each of his "forms". Some characters like Endrance and Sakubo didn't even make an appearance(can't blame them for that)...
The CG was absolutely beautiful, they didn't reuse any cut-scene from the game at all. Everything is new, and better than ever. But I guess a major contributing factor is the fact that I'm watching this in 1080i... while the original PS2 games play in 480i...
I guess I'll try to squeeze some time to sub this. After I resolve some technical difficulties...

TRILOGY is a movie of .hack//G.U., told from an alternate storyline. Put simply, it is the .hack//XXXX to .hack//I.M.O.Q., or the .hack//Legend of the Twilight Anime to the .hack//Legend of the Twilight Manga.

Those 60-100 hours include gameplay, i.e. dugeon crawling, side quests and the arena.
6h are too long and would cause a horrible pacing.

@Tadashi: while that's true. but even cut straight to the dialogues and cut scenes, it would still take more than 10 hours to cover the entire story line. the movie skipped most of that, 80% of the major characters didn't even make an appearance, and key events were altered to link up the story. e.g. arena events, real world impacts, form upgrading quests, etc...
on top of that, dungeon crawling and side quests help bond the player into the story line, their absence meant the movie had to rely on other "techniques" to build up the same emotion.
then again, for those who haven't played the game, the movie should still be quite enjoyable.
Anyone found the OST online yet? Some of those background songs sound too awesome.

I, myself, bought a copy of the .hack//G.U. Trilogy on Blu-ray from yesasia.com, but it won't be here for another two weeks. To help you, LuPerry, to rip the blu-ray, I suggest using Slysoft's AnyDVD HD, the latest one. They have just came up with a newer version that removes the Blu-ray protection. It also removes the region coding and HDCP that only permits the video to be viewed on certain displays with HDCP capablitities. Works nicely. It's a start. Good luck with the subbing and ripping. - Zack
i just finished downloading this. it's 5.29 GB. it comes with the main video, and the extra features (trailers, parady, etc). the video, trailer 1, and parady are all in 1080p and in .mkv (yay!) format. i'm still working on getting the parady and movie to run at full speed. but the trailer 1 works at full speed. lol. the main movie itself is 4.35 GB. you can use something like Azures to download JUST the movie.

EDIT: the most amusing error messege ever. i tried to get the main movie to run with mplayer (for those of you who don't know, it's a media player w/o a GUI using almost no RAM. it has other features also that i don't feel like getting into). i got this error messege in the command prompt window :D

Just to reitterate great movie, pacing issues of course, but was much better then I was expecting. Was really good seeing it all touched up like plus 5.1 surround. New scenes were good and I'm glad they got rid of that Cubia nonsense from the games, plus that little "twist" sure does give hope for a new game series though I hope Bandai doesn't plan to milk this sore old cow too long.
Was also my first blu-ray movie and was seriously night and day I mean even the HQ encodes that I usually get don't even compare.
and on a slightly unrelated note Code Geass R:2 is on sunday soooooo excited

I remember when I was waiting around for the next release of .hack//Roots, then ofcourse I found out about .hack//G.U. Returner and came straight here to find you had allready subbed it. It is a pity that I come here looking for the trilogy and it isn't here, yet. but I'm checking back every few days, I'm so psyched up about it... so much stuff coming out that I'm psyched up about, not all of it anime related and none of it will I go into unless asked. That being said, keep up the great work, enjoy your time in the land of perverts and peace out!

Is fine, and english subb, i dont know if the subb is ok, but the video its perfectly fine and with a nice resolution, i can play it in 1280*960 full screen and it looks great.

is there a way to convert it into say 720p?
It is possible to covert to 720p using a video editing software. Although i wouldnt recommend it unless u want to wait a very long time XD
If you could sub this in HD for everyone, that would be so incredible. I have about 8 friends who really want to see this AND you'd be the first english translation of Trilogy!

Big fan of your work! Just wanted to add that it would be great to get a subbing of the Parody Mode clip as well (after you finish the main movie of course).
I checked out the copy by RagnarokRevolution, and the subs seemed ok (other than some spelling and grammar errors), but since it's an avi, and undersized at that, especially for the length of the feature, a lot of the fight scenes were quite pixelated.
Can't wait to see how your copy comes out!

Thanks for the info Mess! Hopefully they'll have one eventually... still find it odd that they didn't release the Japanese vers with some subs, as I bet a lot more people would get the DVD if that were the case, but I guess the same is true for many Japanese releases.
I just got the worst disappointment ever. I saw that Nonoha had released a sub file before you, for which I was ecstatic, so I downloaded the .ass and rangled my video player to use it with the Q-R raw...... and IT WAS HORRIBLE. They took the japanese subtitles, ran them through babelfish or something, and pasted them into the file. theres still kanji all over the place <Floodcry>
i got bored and finished subbing the movie myself. lol. but i bet luperry's version will be better than mine, so i won't bother releasing the sub file.
can't wait for the final product lu :)
