Ugh, I really do hate them region restrictions... I think supposedly ps3 60 gig wa sthe best deal since you could play ps2 games in it, for the 80 gig you have to download some patch that will let you play SOME gmes.. and the 40 gig was useless for ps2 game :'( sadly enough, 60 gigs are not being made (and i doubt they will keep making them) T_T

nah. PS3 backward compatibility is region locked, Japanese games won't work on it. I'm playing this on my modded PS2.

oh yah, I forgot to mention, I got the 40GB PS3, since BC on PS3 is 50% useless for me(half of my old PS2 games are Japanese)... and I find no use for the flash card readers nor the two extra USB ports.
