oki... so... my theory is the following... i think i already mentioned it somewhere in the comments

originally in .hack Morgana was The World, and she started using the phases to stop Aura being born, couse Morgana wanted to live some more... so Aura created his "knights", the .hackers, whom can save her....

now Aura is gone CCCorp wants to resurrect Aura... but not the normal one, than an Aura that can be controlled by CCCorp... but Morgana goes wrong (CCCorp guys fell in to coma)... The World R:2 goes online... we seem to know the rest... AIs start to appear, people fall in comas, and our new heros are possesors of parts of Morgana... question is.. why?

now... i have a speculation... mayve CCCorp didn't gave up the resurrection project, or the CCCorp's Aura came to her corrupted senses, and they are trying to do what the old Aura did... create new .hackers, so they can help the "evil" Aura to be born... thus The World... which is the womb/Morgana gives her parts, the phases to "heros".. so once agin the fight is between the Phases and the .hackers. But this time if the .hackers win, an evil Aura will be born...

what can i add to this speculation? in the GU vol. 2 trailer when we first see evil Balmung and evil Orca, they are starting to ressurrect Kite, then you can see texts running around in hexagons in the background.... you can breafly catch the CCCorp logo in it... why is that? :P

In episode 18 of roots... there is a Harald like AI... it gives you a mere sword if you like Aura, it gives you a mountain of exp, if you don't... why is that?

these two facts could show that my speculation is correct... but ... it might not be true XD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Terminal Disk said that R.A. Plan from Project G.U. involved attaching the 8 phases onto Player Characters. The whole point of this was to have the 8 phases under CC Corp. 's control, since the phases were needed to collect data on human emotions and interactions for Aura. Thus how Epitaph Wielded PCs came to be. Although the disk said that only two of those PCs that they've made, survived from the fire (remember, these PCs were made for the original The World). Those two are: The Avenger and The Propagation. I have no idea how Kuhn managed to get his, but we already know that Pai got hers from her older brother. I should also point out at the 11th report, it says that Ovan "has it all". Perhaps he was able retreive the remaining phases? Don't forget that Jun (the author/writer of the interim report) already knew that Ovan was already the Rebirth Epitaph User...

@Sakota: yes.. you're not wrong... but i was wondering what happend after the phases scattered (exept for Avenger and Propagation) and why did TriEdge and co appear

@Sakota: Kuhn got hold of Magus because he was the new epitath user chosen by CC Corp.

I think that part about Ovan 'having it all' is supposed to be 'knows it all' (it is in the translation I read) what he means is that Ovan has obtained a avatar and knows almost everything about project G.U. He's also gathering potential epitath weilders (The twilight Brigade) in search of the Key of the Twilight aka Aura. Jun is scared because if Ovan succeed he risks ending everything Jun's worked for.

having a avatar must make you treated as a phase by tri-edge...and if u r able to have a avatar you r a target by tri-edge...that is my theory...so i think a force seeking to correct the imbalance of the phases made tri-edge to destroy the player characters who can possess avatars to create balance in the world...much like cubia

@heavenshell: I have no doubt there's some sort of "cubia" factor in the game, CC corp was trying to prevent that at all costs while in project G.U. The question is, what is it? The AIDAs? or those three(tri-edge and his two stooge cronies)?

are there to protect the world, otherwise they wouldn't be killing AIDA. why would the azure knights be protecting aura in the last game if they were evil? they're there to create a balance in the world, yes, but they also protect it. all they do is get rid of AIDA, and if you are and AIDA-pc you automatically become a target. they aren't evil, they just look the part. azure kite isn't the one who PKed shino anyway. i also think Harald gives you a weapon if you like Aura because he created her. not to mention aura created the azure knights, and is basically the god of the [The World], and that's why CCcorp wanted to resurrect her. all their games were failing because they didn't have a god to run the program. i also think the "tri-edge" it showed PKing those guys in the dungeon was and AIDA copy. also, i think Cubia is just Cubia. there's no Cubia factor, but in the 3rd volume, apparently Yata and Haseo and Ina have found Cubia at Morrigu Barrow Wall.
