I went through volume 1 with a very limited knowledge of Japanese, not nearly enough to truely get most of what they were saying... and by 'get' I mean 'know what each word ment'. Yet for the most part, it was easy to pick things out. You eventually get accustomed to which symboles mean what (with key terms that is).

how in the world are you guys getting .hack gu vol 1 and vol 2? I couldnt get them because when I tried to order the first volume it said item cant leave japan or something like that. If you could tell that would be nice and where unless you live in japan.

how'd you like the voices in the japanese version vs the english version? I think the voice actors in the english ver for atoli and haseo definitely leave something to be desired, and that's rare coming from me. I usually don't care, but something about the english haseo, seems, not right.....

I liked them but I still like the japanese ones better, except crispin to bad he doesn't get a chance to say 'Ma Peche' in this game I donno Sakaki seems really similar to Albedo

I played the first volume in english and cleared the game and then decided it was so good i couldnt wait for the ENG version of VOL 2 and do I'm thinking about getting the JAP version of VOL2. Question is, will i be able to transfere all my progress from the eng ver 1 to the Jap version 2 with all my weapons unlocked features etc ?.

Japanese and US use different save file encodings
It's not so bad you'll probably start out at lvl 50 or so  and you might get a few items

hehe this is why you get the jpn vol 1 as well and torture self for another 30 or so hrs ... 20 hrs of story 10 hrs of damn questing/ryu book completing -_-;. IM SO FUGGING CLOSE XD;. 960 and 964 disfndIVSITGUABRGAN T__T. aand i need to run to class >>;.

Thank you for the quick response. I'm breaking down the code and converting it from the English version save Game file to the Japanese version . Hope this will workout.

@destruktion: I managed to convert the save, into Jap. Also while i was at it , I managed to "Undub" the ENG Version of Dot hack G.U Vol 1. Now My dot hack G.U ENG version reads english subtitles and english menues but all the voices are in JAP. Very interesting discovery and VERY useful for the people that hate the voices in all dubbed games.

I'm trying to compile a list of new .Hack//G.U. vol. 2 features for the Helba Gate. Can anyone tell me what new characters join your party, what new specials you get, upgrades to the guild, how you can customize the bike, etc? I'm also wondering if skill level is still capped at level ten.

@destruktion: I dunno how you did the save file, but I'm guessing you took the english game data and the japanese movies and reburned them to a another DVD and played it that way?

@Exotahu: There are programs which can convert saves but you need something like codebraker
