hi luperry I noticed your releases so far have srt/ass subs why did you decide on this not muxing them to hardsubs? I personally find hardsubs easier to read (esp. when I was a VLC user) and they only take a couple of minutes to do once you have an .srt ready (or so zw and others claim). Just wondering why you made the decision to go softy.

btw: Thanks for the fast releases mate, appreciate it!

well.... personally, I prefer softsub.

I remember there was once the subtitle blocked something important I wanted to see, and it was a hardsub... @_@ softsub is also great for learning Japanese ^^;

as far as readability goes, you can adjust the font size because it's softsub, you don't get the luxury if it's hardsub.

I did release a hardsub though, the Ar Tonelico OVA.

@luperry: That makes perfect sense -- I follow your logic now and I suppose viewers could extract the subs and mux themselves if srt really made them grumpy. Maybe I'll turn of the subs, learn Japanese.. and talk like Tabby!

@Anonymous: you don't have to worry about the .ass files if you got one of the .mkv files from me.

take a look at the FAQ section if you are having playback problems.

i've downloaded VLC player and the CC pack(i even have the mega ace codec pack) and i've activated the filter and stuff, but it's still not working...

to be more accurate, i downloaded VLC, then the codec pack and installed it and checked the filter and blah, then reopened the fully downloaded file (not the bittorrent lol)

Bit late to respond I know ;-)

But I prefer soft subs also.

I prefer a separate srt files as they are easy to edit, and are far more flexible it you want to introduce another language - just swap the srt files, instead of having to download the whole vid again. Great if you want to see an alternate translation for your favorite movie.

Often I see a mis-spelled word, (for example "lossen" instead of "loosen" in Sumomomo  Momomo Ep 18), or just want to change from U.S. English to U.K.  English.

I use Zoom Player, and I can set the font I wish, and sometimes capital i and small l are mixed up, but you might not notice if you use a san-serif font.

Though I can't be bothered to extract the subs from an MVK release to correct them. ;-D

I don't think subtitles are handled by codecs. Check FFdshow video properties, or Haali media splitter, (assuming you have one of those installed), and try turning on subs there.

Thanks again Lu
