Hirahara Ayaka - Reset

By request. From ookami the game(not okami, that's bad translation). I find the title quite interesting, it was written as "大神", which means "big god", then wolf(written as "狼") in Japanese is also pronounced as "ookami". And it just happens that the main character in the game is a wolf, and she is a god. Very cool. Cool

The song is really nice, I really like it.

This game was absolutely excellent.  Definitely the kind of quality I wish to see other game developers offer.  It's artistic, it's original, and most importantly it's fun.  10/10.

The song is great too Lu.  Thanks for putting it up.

Hey Lu I wouldn't say calling it Okami instead of OOKAMI is bad translation. If they had it OOKAMI dumbasses would call it UKAMI. Since english has tons more vowel sounds than could ever be needed, and Japanese only has basics, the translation makes it easier for Americans to not sound like morons and confuse the American public which mostly consists of under educated closed minded people. Thus why people are so against gay marriage and our overall test scores only seem smart when compared to third world countries.

I'm not complaining to you though Lu. I'm just stating the fact that people would call it Ukami instead of OKAMI if they had used the OO instead of O and ranting about the 100 percent factual basis of America.

Man I wish other Fansub groups did as good a job as you. You try and keep us up to date on Otaku info. *cough* unlike ADC *cough* I know it's free but... they've really dissapointed me with their down falling service and everyone things they are so great. I don't think i've ever gone to your site without thinking to myself "Lu Perry RULES" you are the perfect example of the quality that all fansubbers should strive for. Oh and I have Ookami. Got it the day it was released. I started calling myself MakaiOokami a LONG time ago. Like 1 year and a half. I love Ookami. Especially peeing on my enemies :D. Right now I got Tales of the Abyss, Ookami, Phantasy Star Universe, and .hack//GU Rebirth Limited Edition to play right now. I'm in Otaku Paradise currently :D. I don't need to buy any games till like January of next year... unless another awesomely amazing Japanese game that I HAVE to have comes out before then.

I know I"m rambling but people read these things because they have time to waste anyway right?

One must respect the site for doing fansubs -- it's an important part of anime in this country, particularly for those of us who do not speak adequate (or any) Japanese and therefore cannot watch without subtitles... as for those who watch dubbed anime, they are in a different category of "fan" and I won't address that largely because I can't understand why anyone would prefer to lose half the joy of the anime by hearing the wrong voices... it would be like watching a Hollywood gem and having the stars voices replaced by just.. anyone. Part of acting, in anime in particular, is the voice, and Japanese lends itself to an expressiveness that is not reproduceable in English.. not in the same way, and not with the same atmosphere. Unless one cannot read, has trouble (dyslexia, for example) I can't really think of a valid reason to actually prefer one's anime dubbed.

Now that I've expressed that bit of opinion, I'm afraid I'm going to offend and I don't want to :(

I do respect what "Lu Perry" (assuming that is his name? or a reference I am not getting, apologies for that) is trying to do...

But there are two problems:

1) No IRC channel on Rizon where the other fansubs channels live. There is a reason to have a channel... people can talk real time, discuss issues with the anime, you can always be looking for the best translators, editors, timers, typesetters and encoders.

2) A secondary reason of course would be dedicated channel bots for those who prefer to download directly, rather than via bittorrent from baka-updates or from this website.

As to reason number 1 -- I think it is most germane because while I applaud your efforts, sadly the product is not the same quality as za-warudo or Shinsen... now, za-warudo has a channel (password locked, but they have one) and Shinsen-subs is an open channel.

If you look at the size of the episodes, both Xvid and h264, you'll see your episodes are nearly twice the size. That speaks to encoding ability and I am *not* saying you lack it, merely that skills might be improved. Having a channel on irc and being able to solicit good encoders and editors would help with the quality tremendously.

I say this not to discourage but rather to encourage. We need all the fansubbers we can get... but we need quality also, and where one can improve, wouldn't one want to, for the sheer joy of doing something really well? I have to say that your answer would be yes or you wouldn't be doing the largely thankless task of fansubbing in the first place -- make no mistake, it is work done for love of the genre, not for pay (let's defenestrate those idiots who take free fansubs and then sell them on eBay) and as such, I know you would want to do it at the highest level of quality possible.

In friendship and respect for your work and time,

Kanai

(and just for those who haven't tried it yet, .hack//G.U. is lots of fun, especially if one is up on the anime, and even if one watches it afterwards as there will be a vol 2 and one hopes four volumes just as was the case with the first .hack series, anime and game -- this is HUGE in Japan, and I wish that a good game company, one with the resources of say, blizzard, but better customer service ;) would take it and make it into an MMORPG -- it would blow WoW out of the water, in this writer's humble (I try?) opinion :P

@Anonymous: Actually, the 'O' in the name has a horizontal line over it, which is the indication in romajii (Japanese written with the roman alphabet) that the O should be the same as two o's. It's acceptable to write it Ookami OR Okami.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 8, 2007 - 11:16.

class="MsoNormal">Sorry, I'm not very good at Japanese, or at translating, but here goes my try…

Chiriyuku hanabira ga machi wo irodoru kedo
Saigo no toki na noto kaze ga oshiete kureta
Kisetsu *wa mawaru* (more accurately ha, and it’s meguru) kara shinpai wa ira nai to
Ano toki ?yokogitta? tsuki ga terashite kureta

Though the (flower) petals are falling, they added colors the city
The final times had come, the winds forbade
There is no need for worries; for the seasons will return (it’s a cycle).
(My guess) – The radiant moon we watched together that time beckoned so

Itsumo onaji namida bakari nagashi *tsudukeru* (TSU-ZU-KE-RU)
Nakusa nakereba *kiduka nai* (KI-ZU-KA-NA-I, zu, NOT du) kara

The same tears are always shed
We will not realize what is precious until we have lost it

Tada hitotsu negai ga kanau no nara
Kinou no jibun ni “Sayounara”
Kawara nai omoi ga aru no naraba
Itsuka sakura no shita de

If only one wish can be fulfilled
I would say “goodbye” to my old self
If there are unchangeable feelings
It would be under the usual Sakura tree
(Alternative – If there are remaining feelings, I will bury it under the usual Sakura tree)

Ano hi no yakusoku ga iroase nai you ni
Yubi de nazotte miru asa no mabayui hikari

I traced my pinky in the dazzling morning
So the promise made will not be lost
(Japanese kids do the “pinky-swear” yubikiri as sign to keep promises)

Hitotsu toshite onaji toki wa (ha) otozure nai kara
Mou mayowazu ni saki he (more correctly pronounced as e) susumu no

I will not hesitate and move on with life
For the time past will not return

Taisetsu na inori ga todoku you ni
Kyou mo utai tsudukete (…) yuku
Sagashiteta kotae wa (ha) kitto aru to
Sotto oshiete kureru

For my most cherished prayers to reach you
I shall sing again today
You’ll find the answers you seek
For so was I told

Tada hitotsu negai ga kanau no nara
Toki wo (pronounced as ‘O’) koete todoketai
Kawara nai omoi ga aru no naraba
Itsuka sakura no shita de

If only one wish can be fulfilled
I want to deliver this song to you (back) in time
If there are unchangeable feelings
It would be under the usual Sakura tree

Taisetsu na inori ga todoku you ni
Kyou mo utai tsudukete yuku
Sagashiteta kotae wa kono ni aru to
Sotto oshiete kureru

For my most cherished prayers to reach you
I shall sing again today
The answers you seek is right here
Thus was I told so

Kanashimi wo (O) resetto (reset) shite
wo resetto shite – reset the
kanashimi – sadness :p
